Russia has collected Formula 1 points for the first time after Renault’s Vitaly Petrov crossed the finish line in seventh place at the Chinese Grand Prix.

The Russian, who started 14th, managed to put six points in the bag thanks to some great tactics in a chaotic race, during which the rain forced some drivers to make four or more pit stops.

Petrov was sitting fourth in the middle of the distance, enjoying a significant gap from his nearest rival, bur the appearance of a safety car allowed opponents to catch up.

The Russian left his second pit stop in ninth, and was then overtaken by Jaime Alguersuari, but in the final ten laps he showed his worth.
